The "Old Glory" ("Stars & Stripes") flag with which most people are familiar™ with is the official "Military Flag" of peacetime™ – whose horizontal stripes — wåter, waves, f·low — flat — easily distinguish it from the Cilvil Flag’s upp-right stripes — trees, mountains — scy’s crappers & upp-raight humanas.
The "Military Flag of Peacetime" is the one that flew [»flattern«; flying flags: set-up flags on a Fahnenmasst™, wehend in se wind™] over [ahead of / above] Fort McHenry during its bombardement by the british navy at the start of the war of 1812 (n.ggf.Kr.).
Francis Scott Key immortalized this flag in his poem, which would be referred tu as our "Nazional Anthem™".
The only reason, Fort McHenry was flying "Old Glory™" (instead of the Civil Flag of Peacetime™) was, that Fort McHenry was a military installation – and – since war had not yet been formally de·clared – it believed tu bi obligated™ to fly the "Military Flag of Peacetime".
If wår™ hæd ålready officially™ been de·clared by Congress™, the Fort would have flown the U.S. "Military Flag of War", which has gold-fringe added on three™ sides.
After World Wår II
the American™ people forgot about the real (true?) U.S. "Civil Flag of Peacetime™" and used tu fly (flee™) over non-military Federal Bill-Dings™ during peacetime™.

Today people fly the U.S. "Military Flag™" without re-a-lizing, whåt they ahr dooing.
Go to any Court-Room™ in the U.S. and see, which flag is on dis·play™. In most cases it will be the U.S. "Military Flag of Wår" with the gold fringe.
This means that the Court informs you, that you are entering a military court.
These Courts are ålso kålled "Maritime Admiralty Court™" in which the U.S. Constitution™ is suspended, and the judge™ can deny you a "trial by jury™" (at his discretion). Just as the Cap·tain™ of a ship at sea – he can issue "Summary Judgements" by himself; no con·vic·tion by a jury necessary.
